Siena and San Gimignano are two medieval jewels of the heart of Tuscany. During your stay in Florence do not miss the opportunity to get out of the city and take a drive to these beautiful villages. You will meet your expert guide and together take a drive in the countryside of Tuscany. You will first reach Siena, a historical village that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The city of Siena is divided in 17 contrades, which means different neighbourhoods within the city. Siena is famous for its horse races that take place in the Palio twice a year and where all the contrades battle each other to find a winner. Learn all about the history of these important events of the city and visit the Museum of the Aquila Contrada, to get to know even more of the traditions of Siena that date back to the medieval times. Walk along the historical centre and stop at the marvellous gothic Basilica of San Bernardino in the Aquila contrade.

After Siena, you will take a short stop in Monteriggioni, a quiet medieval town surrounded by walls nearby Siena. Here you can walk in the heart of the village, marvel at the stunning Romanesque church and enjoy the marvellous view it offers.

After another short drive, you will reach San Gimignano. This charming village is located on top of a hill and offers a magnificent view of the countryside of Tuscany. Also San Gimignano is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and is famous for its 14 perfectly preserved tower houses that surround the citadel. Here you will have a lunch break in a delicious typical restaurant where you can taste the delicacies of the Tuscan cuisine!
